Energy per Unit: Create and Save a Calculation

What is the Energy per Unit Calculation feature?

Energy per unit is a key metric that shows how much energy is consumed per unit of production output (e.g., kWh/unit or kWh/kg).
Use this feature for precise, snapshot energy per unit calculations, for example for a specific batch or production run.
You can include multiple energy-consuming assets with their own time intervals, ideal for when the production process has multiple steps and varying durations

Save your calculations to compare different runs, products, or time periods on the Energy per Unit Calculation Comparison page.

How to create an energy per unit calculation

  1. Go to the ‘Energy Per Unit Calculation’ tab.
  2. Select the unit type to define the output metric.
  3. Select one or multiple energy-consuming assets (electricity and/or natural gas) that are used in the production. Per asset, define:
    1. Interval: when the asset was used for the production
    2. Contribution: lower the contribution % if the asset was also used for other production processes
  4. Select one or multiple assets that have counted your production output (or enter output manually if you do not have counting sensors). Per asset, define:
    1. Interval: when the asset counted the production output
    2. Conversion: Adjust if one count equals multiple produced units
  5. Hit the ‘Calculate’ button.
  6. (Optional) Click the ‘Save’ button to store this energy per unit calculation for future comparison.
The calculated energy per unit appears as a bar chart on the right. Below it, a table lists the total energy consumption and production output used in the calculation for easy verification.
