Installing the sensors

Before starting the installation, we recommend you to watch the installation video. You can watch the video here.

In the shipment email that you will receive when the hardware is shipped, you will receive an overview of which sensors need to be on which machine. We advise you to follow that particular list.

The sensor relies on 'energy harvesting' from the power cables of the machines and does not need an external power supply. Check that the metal parts of the clamp are free of dust and dirt. If this is not the case, wipe them clean with a cleaning cloth.

Then, click a clamp around each of the three phases of the power cable and make sure that they are securely fastened by checking the snap closures; this prevents discharge vibrations. If the clamp does not fit around the cable properly, please contact your onboarding representative.

If possible, install all or most of the current sensors in a distribution cabinet individually on the machine level. By this, the installation will go faster and you can easily determine the locations of the bridges. Aim to mount the transmitters outside the cabinet to ensure the reach of the wireless signal.

Validate installation

After installation, check that the sensor is working properly by checking the LED light on the transmitter. If the light flashes every 10 seconds, the sensor is working; if the machine is not switched on or disconnected from the power supply, the light will not flash.

To ensure a reliable installation of your Sensorfact energy management system, it is highly advised to use our installation overview. This overview can be found under the ‘account’ icon, under the ‘Status’ tab in the Sensorfact Software. For optimal functionality, the connection between the bridge and the sensor preferably has a blue, green, or yellow color for a signal (2-4 dashes).

If this connection is indicated with a red color (1 dash), the signals are very weak and there could be data loss. Please note that if our energy consultants start with the data scan and they can not receive proper data from the sensors with a weak signal, they might leave them out of the energy scan.
